We’re building a free-to-use CATIA parser and viewer, so access to your own engineering data doesn’t depend on an expensive reader license. CATIA is our starting point. The goal is broader access to engineering files.
Help make that possible with real-world files.
CAD files vary across releases, modeling workflows, and assemblies. A reader that works on a handful of examples can still fail on the next real project. We can’t reliably improve support for cases we never see.
That’s why this stage of Datareader is built around contributed files. We retain uploads, review the gaps together, fix the parser, and turn those examples into regression tests for future releases.
Reading a file should not be a luxury.
Our goal is to remove the need to budget $5,000, $10,000, or even $50,000 just to read engineering files, or to pay royalties for that capability. We want to make a free alternative possible.
Starting with CATIA. Building toward more.
Our current focus is CATPart and CATProduct files, with support reported honestly for each upload. We plan to expand to more engineering formats:

- Rhino.3dm
- Parasolid.x_t
- SolidWorks parts.sldprt
- SolidWorks assemblies.sldasm
These formats are planned, not currently supported by this upload service. Further formats will follow as the project grows.
Our own parsers. A repeatable improvement loop.
We develop our native parsing code from scratch and improve it through real files, documented findings, and regression tests. Any third-party components are used in accordance with their licenses.
Each contribution helps us reproduce a gap, understand the underlying data, implement a fix, and verify a new release. We then revisit affected files to check what improved. The team drives this loop, with testable evidence behind every change.
Responsible development. Honest results.
Our development follows applicable software licenses. We do not use pirated CAD software or bypass software licensing.
We check our results against independent references where available. Otherwise, a saved mesh can help check the recovered geometry, dimensions, and placement, alongside mathematical and structural checks.
A mesh is a useful cross-check, not proof of exact geometry or complete interpretation. Missing features and unverified results stay visible. Every fix becomes another case to test before the next release.
Contributing is your choice.
If you don’t want your files retained, please don’t upload them. We respect that choice. This page does not upload files or load the viewer, and you’re welcome to return later.
Only contribute files you are entitled to share. Declining here does not delete files you uploaded earlier.
